Mind-Bending American Stupidity

Gads, Americans can be morons. Just a recent example. Fox News talking heads all blathering that record-high oil prices are Biden’s fault because of the canceled Keystone pipeline and because more drilling isn’t permitted in the Alaska Natural Wildlife Reserve. And, and “America enjoyed energy independence under Trump,and now we don’t anymore.”

The US consumes about 20 million barrels of oil per day. At one time, daily production was about 20.2 million, a minuscule surplus. It’s currently about 19.8, a minuscule deficit. And oilis a global market with 100 million barrels a day sloshing around, a difference of .4 million is not meaningful.

Keystone would have maybe added .5 million barrels a day, not totally insignicant but almost. And what the dopes at Fox don’t realize, if exploratory drilling started today in ANWR, it would still take years for any of that oil to reach markets.

Now, oil is back to 130. But adjusted for inflation, it’s not really any higher than in 1991 or 1978. And it’s temporary. Oil production will ramp in in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Venezuela, etc. An btw, a ban on Russian oil imports probably doesn’t accomplish much. That oil will flow to China, and Mideast oil flow shift towards America.

Eh, another complaint. I provide insights nobody else has, but for you Americans I am just a dumb redneck. Maybe one of you people could at least “like” one ofmy pieces, just once? Not that I care, I just find it astonishing people can read me and have zero reaction.
